Marin Abused Women's Services has accomplished amazing things in our 30 year history. Our Milestones Brochure highlights our achievements and accolades.

Marin Abused Women's Services (MAWS) was founded in 1977 in response to the escalating levels of domestic violence in Marin County. Members of the Marin Chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW) started the organization at the onset of the battered women's movement.

Through the efforts of hundreds of volunteers and staff and more than 29 years of hard work, MAWS has developed a comprehensive range of support services.

MAWS' direct services and support programs include:
MAWS has developed a Men's Program:
  • to teach male batterers new behaviors to stop their violence.
  • to provide a 24 hour men's hotline to help men not engage in violence and refer them to the MAWS Men's Program.
  • to provide support and advocacy to men who are in the process of becomeing non-violent.
